Special Needs Students Join in The Beach
Clean-Up For a Plastic-free Ocean

Dr. Dinesh Vinherkar, well known Veterinarian, Turtle rescue and conservation expert and WCAWA (Wildlife Conservation and Welfare Association) along with children with special needs from Dharamveer Anand Dighe, Jidd Vishesh Shala, Thane participated in a beach clean-up drive on 28 February, 2020 at Dahanu Beach. During this activity, the students gathered 200 kgs of plastic debris and plastic waste that made its way to the ocean, and got washed ashore through tidal waves.

The beach clean-up initiative was followed by an informative session on turtle & marine life conservation. In this session Dr. Dinesh shared insights & information about how plastic pollution poses a great danger to marine wildlife, as well as the efforts undertaken by Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre Dahanu to help combat this challenge.

This initiative was one of many efforts by Dropledge to create real on ground impact with true Ocean Heroes, with a focus towards empowering the cause of reducing plastic pollution, to aid the conservation of marine wildlife.
